ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza announced that the government has issued new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines on handling of COVID-19 dead bodies.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad he further stated that the number of coronavirus cases was rising in the country and the highest single day death toll was reported in the last 24 hours. However, according to the Special Assistant on Health, the situation remains under control.
Speaking about the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines while handling of bodies of COVID-19 patients, Dr Zafar Mirza said that the guidelines had been changed after no evidance was found of coronavirus being transfered through dead bodies.

The guidelines include SOPs on how to prepare the body for transfer including how to carry out the autospy, environmental cleaning and control, burial and funeral of the deceased.
