Few days back, a video of Gujranwala ASI, Akbar Ali went viral on social media, in which he was spotted brutally assaulting an unknown woman. To protestors’ content, Akbar’s filthy actions have led him behind the bars, after an immediate action was taken against the offender by the Punjab law enforcement agency.
Police officials are meant to provide security and justice to ordinary individuals. However, in Pakistan, the constabularies have wrong sides up when dealing with real life matters. In the world where these so-called safety bubbles preach women’s protection and well-being at all costs, a heart wrenching video clip from Gujranwala surfaced, that immediately erupted indignation on social media giants.

The short footage was of Gujranwala ASI [assistant sub inspector] named Akbar Ali, who was mercilessly beating an anonymous woman. In addition, the next thing to astound the viewers was a bunch of general public witnessing the whole picture with folded hands and doing nothing to step in, when the delinquent continues striking the poor lady on repeat.
Nevertheless, as the revolting clip of public assault upsurge to eminence, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Usman Buzdar immediately took notice of the scenario, ordering the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Gujranwala to launch instant investigation. As a result, a First Information report (FIR) was lodged against the Gujranwala ASI at Saddar police station, followed with his arrest right after.
Later, Usman Buzdar stressed upon the need for respecting women, stating ‘the government does not permit anybody to torture them.’ Also, he issued directives to serve justice to the victim lady.
