PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants launched an attack on a foreign fast-food restaurant located on Ring Road within the jurisdiction of the Sarband police station late Sunday night. The gunmen opened fire before fleeing the scene, according to local law enforcement authorities.
The Senior Police Officer (SP) of Cantonment reported that two individuals were involved in the shooting. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations are still underway. There is no evidence so far to suggest that the attack was carried out by an organized group or extremist elements.
In a related note, other outlets of the same restaurant chain have previously been targeted. Several months ago, during protests against Israel, a mob had also attacked branches of the restaurant in the Tehkal area of Peshawar.
The police are continuing their investigation to determine whether there is any connection between these incidents and the recent attack. As of now, it is too early to confirm the exact nature of the threat posed by the assailants.
