In light of the predicted rain and to avoid any untoward incidents, Mayor Karachi, has announced a half-day for offices in Karachi on Friday, March 1, 2024.
The announcement was made X (formerly Twitter), that is constantly being used by government officials to disseminate information despite being blocked for the general population. “Though preparations have been made, as a matter of abundant precaution, it has been decided in meeting presided by CM that tomorrow will be a half day for offices in Karachi division from 2 PM.” the Mayor wrote, adding that citizens are urged to avoid any unnecessary travel to avoid any inconvenience.

Sindh CM Declares Rain Emergency
CM Murad Ali Shah declared a rain emergency in the province during a meeting on rain predictions. He put local bodies, administrations, and hospitals on high alert and advised people to avoid unnecessary outings. The weather department predicted three to four spells, with southern Sindh forecasted to receive rain from Thursday night to March 2.
Central parts were expected to experience rain on March 1, while Karachi is anticipated to receive 13 to 16 millimeters on Friday afternoon. The CM mentioned water would be entering Sindh from the Jhal Magsi and Khuzdar mountain ranges.
The government built three dams in Karachi to address water issues, and efforts were underway to resolve rainwater drainage problems. Additionally, machinery would be provided to the KMC to manage water pressure on Shahra-e-Faisal.
Moreover, the DIG traffic was instructed to enhance traffic flow during rain.
