Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz has been re-elected as the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab after votes of Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) were rejected by the Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker, Dost Muhammad Mazari.
According to the details, PML-N’s candidate Hamza Shehbaz retained the post of the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) against Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi, a joint candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q), by three votes after Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker, Dost Mazari, rejected 10 votes cast by PML-Q members.
PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz ended up with 179 votes against PML-Q’s Elahi, who managed to bag 176 votes.
It is pertinent to mention that minutes before the Chief Minister (CM) Punjab election, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain refused to vote for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed candidate Pervaiz Elahi.
