Karachi: The sweltering heatwave in the city and elsewhere in Sindh is likely to extend its unwelcome stay by a few more days, as the temperature has risen to 43 degrees Celsius already.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that the temperature may rise to 42-44 degrees Celsius today.
PMD director-general Dr Ghulam Rasool said that the heatwave will peak between Monday and Wednesday, which means that the temperatures are expected to drastically shoot up in these three days.
Mercury in Karachi is likely to touch 44°C while the interior areas in Sindh should prepare for 50°C, Dr Rasool noted, adding that this was because the sea breezes had come to a complete standstill, allowing the heatwave — that rode into the city on Saturday — to continue for three more days.
