KARACHI – On Thursday, heavy rains swept through Karachi, affecting various parts of the city significant downpours in areas such as MT Khan Road, Sultanabad, Hijrat Colony, and Keamari.
The rain didn’t spare other areas either. Shahra-e-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Scheme 33, and Safoora Goth saw substantial rainfall. Hasan Square, Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and M.A. Jinnah Road also experienced heavy showers.
Nazimabad, Habib Bank Chowrangi, and the SITE Area were drenched as well. The downpour extended to Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, and Malir. Areas around the airport were not immune to the weather, facing significant rainfall too.
Residents dealt with flooded streets and disrupted daily routines. Traffic slowed down to a crawl, and power outages were reported in several neighborhoods. The heavy rain highlighted the city’s need for better drainage systems and infrastructure improvements to handle such weather conditions.
Meanwhile, The similar flashflood situation in Lahore, The Army maintained area Askari 11 drowned, including ground flood homes, cars and parks.
It is feared that 44 people have lost their lives due to heavy rain including two children in Lahore.
