The Federal Government has not issued a notification yet, but media reports suggests that Pakistan is likely to get four to five holidays on Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 this year.
According to the details, the Cabinet Division is working to finalize the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays as the festive occasion is expected to fall on April 22 and Ramadan will most likely complete 30 days this year.
It is being reported that if Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 falls on April 21, the holidays will be observed from April 20 to 23. However, if Eid is celebrated on April 22, the holidays will be observed from April 20 to 24.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council’s Secretary General, Khalid Aijaz, has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 is most likely to fall on April 22 as he ruled out possibility to sight the Shawwal moon on April 20.
He said that it will be difficult to sight the new crescent on April 20 as it will be born on 9.13 am that day and its age at the time of sighting will only be 10 hours.
The official added that for a crescent to be sighted, the duration needs to be more than 19 hours so it will be impossible to sight the moon on April 20 even if the sky is clear.
