The UAE has given instructions for the residents to follow for reporting their lost or stolen mobile phones in easy and simple steps.
Immediately Contact Telecom Service Provider and Block Your Mobile Phone
In case of losing a phone, the TDRA body of the UAE urges the residents to respond as soon as possible. The first move is to reach out to the telecom service provider in order to block the mobile number:
- Etisalat customers are recommended to call 101 or visit the nearest service center.
- Du customers can contact 155 or visit their closest service center.
The users of Virgin Mobile are asked to download the Virgin Mobile app and report the lost phone via the chat widget. Apart from giving details or personal, time, and place of the loss while reporting during this process, help in blocking the mobile number and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, which will guard against the unauthorized use.
How to Report Lost Phone in the UAE
In the event of a lost or stolen phone, the service provider enacts a blocking process for the device. Blacklisted devices are blocked and, when the IMEI number is entered into the database, the phone cannot access any network within the next 24 hours. Once stolen is found, it takes another 24 hours to unlock the phone and get it functioning again.
