Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, has been arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore soon after the court convicted him in the Toshakhana case on Saturday.
According to the details, a District and Sessions Court in the Federal Capital convicted the Former Prime Minister for corrupt practices related to the state gift depository and sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment.
Imran Khan was accused to corrupt practices to buy and sell gifts in the state possession that were received during various visits abroad and worth more than Rs. 140 million or $490,000.
Additional and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar said that “Charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against PTI chairman.” He handed the 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician three years in jail and a fine of Rs. 100,000.
Imran Khan was arrested from his Zaman Park home and taken to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, PTI Vice Chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has rejected the conviction and arrest of Chairman Imran Khan, saying that ruling by the trial court was state-sanctioned and premeditated.
