The Interior Ministry has issue a new map of the Red Zone in Islamabad and extended the previous boundary up to Faisal Avenue from Ataturk Avenue in order to stop Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and Former Prime Minister Imran Khan from bringing his ‘Haqeeqi Azadi Long March’ near the area.
An Interior Ministry Spokesperson said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and all the Long March participants will not be allowed to enter the Islamabad Red Zone (restricted area) and police, Rangers, and armed forces would be stationed at entry stops to maintain law and order.
The Interior Ministry has banned all gatherings and rallies inside the relevant areas, adding that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) had been imposed in Islamabad’s Red Zone.
It is pertinent to mention that Red Zone in Islamabad would now comprise of areas west of the intersection of Third Avenue and Murree Road, including China Embassy, south of University Road up to the Fourth Avenue, south of Khayaban-e-Iqbal from Fourth Avenue up to Ataturk Avenue, east of Ataturk Avenue up to Jinnah Avenue, east of Embassy Road up to Khayaban-e-Soharwardi, north of Dhokri Chowk (Convention Centre Chowk on Srinagar Highway up to intersection of Murree Road and Third Avenue).
In short, Sector E-7, F-7, G-7, and G-6 will now fall under Islamabad Red Zone, which is being termed as Red Zone – 2 (Extended) by the Interior Ministry.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has said that it would take at least 8-9 days for the Long March to reach Islamabad and invited people from across the country to join him in the struggle for freedom.
He added that caravans from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and other areas of the country were also leaving and would join the Long March before reaching Islamabad.
