ISLAMABAD: A video has been going viral on social media showing parts of the Islamabad airport ceiling collapse due to the recent spell of rain in the city.
The video was captured in the departure lounge of the Islamabad airport and shows how water was flowing into the lounge from the ceiling while parts of the roof were falling down.
It is important to mention that the Islamabad airport was constructed just two year ago and every time during heavy torrential rain, a similar incident takes place due to poor construction.

According to reports, investigation has been under way for the faulty construction of the airport for the past two years but there has been no process or report on the matter.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation has taken notice of the incident that occured on 14th August and in a series of Tweets said that DG CAA has ordered a comprehensive report into the matter with permanent solutions.
Furthermore, the Civil Aviation Authority says that there are “multiple solutions under consideration, including adding more water pipes for quick flushing of rain water into multiple drains or change the entire drainage design over the roof top.”
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has also “directed that Project Director IIAP and Airport Manager IIAP shall submit a joint report on the solution to this recurring problem and will also take all necessary measures to prevent the same in future.”
The Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar is also expected to visit the Islamabad International Airport on 17th August along with senior officials of the Aviation Division.
