Authorities have issued a detailed traffic plan for Islamabad and Rawalpindi (diversions and alternate routes) due to the sit-in by Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakitan (TLP) at Faizabad Interchange causing massive traffic disruption.
Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) workers had planned a march from Liaquat Bagh to Faizabad to protest the blasphemous caricatures of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) despite being denied permission by local authorities.
However, the supporters of Khadim Hussain Rizvi reached Faizabad Interchange on Sunday and staged a sit-in while demanding that the French ambassador leave the country immediately.
The Faizabad dharna (sit-in) has caused severe traffic disruption and problems for commuters as Islamabad and Rawalpindi authorities have blocked several roads to maintain the law and order situation.
It is pertinent to mention that the Metro Bus service and all other forms of public transport has been suspended adding to the misery of commuters who are trying to reach offices, airport or railway station.
The authorities have completely blocked Faizabad Interchange from all sides with containers to restrict the protesters while issuing a detailed traffic plan for Islamabad and Rawalpindi including diversions and alternate routes to help commuters.
In related news, mobile services were partially restored in Islamabad around 2:30am till 7:30am after which cellular networks have been down due to the Faizabad Dharna (sit-in).
