The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that heatwaves will persist across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most parts of the country this week. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6°C above normal.

Continental air is prevailing over most parts of Pakistan, and a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is expected to persist throughout the week. Under these conditions, heatwaves will continue to affect Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most regions of the country.
For Thursday and Friday, Islamabad’s maximum temperatures are forecasted to range between 41-43°C. In Rawalpindi, temperatures are expected to range between 40-42°C on Thursday and 41-43°C on Friday.
Recent Weather Conditions
Over the last 24 hours, hot and dry weather has prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan.
Mohenjo-Daro was the hottest location in the country, with a maximum temperature of 49°C. Other high temperatures recorded include Sibbi and Jacobabad at 48°C, and Larkana, Kot Addu, Khairpur, and Dadu at 47°C. Turbat, Rohri, Rahim Yar Khan, Noor Pur Thal, Okara, Shaheed Benazirabad, Lasbella, Kasur, and Bhakkar all recorded maximum temperatures of 46°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature reached 41°C, with morning relative humidity at 40 percent. Rawalpindi recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C, with morning relative humidity at 37 percent.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the extreme heat, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun. Further updates will be provided by the PMD as the weather situation continues to develop.
