Following a late-night operation by Islamabad Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors in Islamabad’s Blue Area, tear gas shelling persisted throughout the night.
Over 500 protestors were reportedly arrested, according to sources. Notably, the sudden disappearance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, key PTI leaders, has raised questions, as they were leading the protest but failed to reach D-Chowk on November 26, 2024.
Despite their absence, unarmed protestors managed to reach D-Chowk, creating a tense but significant moment in the demonstration.
As of November 27, 2024, the situation in Islamabad is stabilizing. Major highways and motorways, including the Srinagar Highway, Islamabad Expressway, Motorway M1, and Motorway M2, have been reopened to traffic.
The government offices and educational institutions have resumed operations, and Capital Development Authority (CDA) teams are actively clearing debris from roads and streets. Mobile networks have been fully restored, and there are no signs of PTI protestors in the city.
Life in the capital is gradually returning to normal, with a visible reduction in tension and disruption.
