The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed traffic plan for 25 May 2022 (Wednesday) to facilitate the public ahead of the ‘PTI Haqeeqi Azadi March’ towards Islamabad. Former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, said that he would lead the biggest procession in the history of the country on Wednesday.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a long march (aka Haqeeqi Azadi March) on 25 May 2022 to protest the ‘imported government’ and demand for early election. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan will lead the long march from Peshawar towards Islamabad, while PTI workers from other cities across Pakistan will meet up at the Srinagar Highway.

Islamabad Traffic Plan – 25 May 2022
According to the Islamabad Traffic Plan, there are several points of diversions placed throughout the capital to avoid any untoward incident. Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has provided alternate routes for commuters. However, the citizens are advised to avoid any unnecessary travel today.
Diversions and Alternative Routes
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has mentioned the points of diversions placed throughout the city along with the alternative routes for commuters for necessary travel. The detailed Islamabad Traffic Plan for 25 May 2022 is provided below.
According to the Islamabad Traffic Plan Update, the entry and exit points to Red Zone have been closed from Ayub Chowk, Express Chowk, NADRA Chowk, and Serena Chowk. However, the commuters can use Margallah Road for entry and exit to Red Zone.
Meanwhile, Ataturk Avenue has been closed from Nazimud Deen T-Cross to Geo Chowk but 7th Avenue can be used as the alternate route. Similarly, Nazimud Deen Road has also been closed from Zoom Petrol Pump to Ataturk Avenue, while Jinnah Avenue has been closed from China Chowk to Express Chowk. However, the commuters can use Margallah Road for access to both locations.
Furthermore, Murree Road has been closed for traffic on both sides from Rawalpindi towards Faizabad but commuters will be able to use Islamabad Expressway. However, the traffic update mentions that Islamabad Expressway will be closed for incoming traffic to Islamabad at Gulberg Green Bridge and commuters can use Rawalpindi Peshawar Road instead.
The Islamabad Traffic Plan Update also states that Srinagar Highway will remain closed for incoming traffic towards Islamabad at Islamabad Chowk. However, Rawalpindi Peshawar Road can be used as the alternate route by commuters. Meanwhile, IJP Road will remain closed for traffic towards Rawalpindi at Peerwadhai Chowk, Khayaban Chowk, Pindora Chowk, and Stadium Road, while alternate route will be Peshawar Road Rawalpindi. Moreover, 9th Avenue will be closed for traffic from and to IJP Road. However, I-8 and I-9 Markaz roads will remain open for traffic.
