Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has provided a Traffic Plan and updated about the current situation of the traffic flow along with diversions placed in the capital city so that commuters can reach destinations with ease and avoid any road blocks.
It is pertinent to mention that protestors have blocked several roads in Islamabad after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, was shot in a failed assassination attempt during PTI’s Haqeeqi Azadi Long March towards Islamabad.
Islamabad Traffic Plan Update – 8 November 2022
According to the Islamabad Traffic Plan, Faizabad, Srinagar Highway, Motorway Link Road, Airport Link Road, and Islamabad Expressway is completely clear for traffic, while a diversion has been put in place for both sides at Margallah Pahari Point of the GT Road.
Furthermore, the ITP has placed diversions for traffic coming from Taxila via GT Road, Rawalpindi, while traffic from Chungi No 26 has been diverted to Srinagar Highway. Moreover, the ITP has placed diversions on both sides near Koh-e-Noor Mill on Peshawar Road and commuters can use Srinagar Highway and IJP Road instead.
There is a diversion for traffic in both directions from Coral Interchange to Rawalpindi via Old Airport Road. Alternatively, PWD Interchange can be used to reach Peshawar Road Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, Murree Road in Islamabad is clear for all kinds of traffic, except Shamsabad Point in Rawalpindi.
Traffic diversions have been put in place at the junction of IJP Road and Peshawar Road. Alternatively, Fakir Api Road and Srinagar Highway can be used by commuters. Meanwhile, the entry and exit of Red Zone have been closed for traffic from Express Chowk and NADRA Chowk. Alternatively, commuters can be Ayub Chowk and Serena Chowk.
The Lahore to Islamabad M-2 Motorway entrance is also closed for traffic, however, commuters can use a pod interchange.
