ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially announced the suspension of cellular services in various parts of Sindh on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A). This measure has been taken on the directives of the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, to ensure the maintenance of law and order during the religious observance.
According to the PTA’s official statement, the suspension of voice and data services will affect several areas, including Karachi and other interior regions of Sindh such as Khairpur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Shikarpur. The suspension is effective immediately on 26 August 2024.
The decision is part of broader security arrangements made to prevent any untoward incidents during the Chehlum procession, a significant event in the Islamic calendar. The authorities have urged the public to cooperate during this period as efforts are made to ensure a safe and peaceful observance.
