ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court ordered on Thursday to freeze CNG prices till Dec 17, allowing consumers CNG at the existing prices.
The apex court Thursday resumed the gas pricing case and directed Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to complete CNG stations’ audit in a “legal and transparent manner”.
A two-member bench of the apex court, comprising Justice Jawad S.Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain was hearing the case.
During the hearing, Federal Board of Revenue presented details of taxes collected over the past three years while OGRA presented list of licences issued for CNG stations.
FBR counsel said the CNG sector submitted the taxes of Rs4.9 billion from 2009 to 2011.
In its report, OGRA stated that 6154 temporary permits and 3395 permanent licences were issued from 2002 to 2011.
