Islamabad’s Centaurus Mall Sealed Over Lack of Safety Measures

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) along with Islamabad Territory Police (ITP) has sealed the capital’s famous Centaurus Mall over lack of safety precautions that led to the fire eruption inside the food court a few weeks ago.

According to the details, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) issued several notices to the management of Centaurus Mall regarding the lack of safety measures following the outbreak of the fire, however, the mall’s management failed to respond or implement any fire-prevention measures.

Therefore, CDA took action late Monday night and sealed the Centaurus Mall with help from Islamabad Police.

Furthermore, officials have also highlighted that Centaurus Mall’s management carried out no repair work for the damages caused by the huge fire.

Traders and PTI leaders have condemned the Islamabad authorities’ move to seal Centaurus Mall claiming that it was a political revenge after criticism of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) premier, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who owns Centaurus Mall.

The premier of AJ&K criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over his failure to mention “the sacrifices of Kashmiri people” during a speech on Monday when he inaugurated the refurbishment project of units 5 and 6 of the Mangla Dam Hydroelectric Power Plan, built on the Jhelum river in Mangla area of AJ&K.

Taking to Twitter, Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, said, “Sealing of Centaurus Mall by PDM mafia in response to PM AJK censuring SS [Shehbaz Sharif] for not mentioning sacrifices of Kashmiris shows there is law of the jungle in Pakistan since last 8 months.”

He added, “Sends negative signals to Kashmiris too.” as he asked Honorable Judges, “Are they not upholders of the Law?”
