ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed on Wednesday.
Hafiz Saeed was on his way to Gujranwala from Lahore to get pre-arrest bail when he was intercepted by the police.
He was arrested at the Kamoke toll plaza which is about 50km north of Lahore by a group of counterterrorism department police.

He has been arrested in the terrorism financing case.
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson has said Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed has been sent to prison on judicial remand after being presented before a Gujranwala anti-terrorism court.
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) will complete the investigation and present the charge sheet before the court in the specified time frame.
The arrest of Hafeez Saeed has also been confirmed by Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) spokesperson.

Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) spokesperson Nadeem Awan has told Al Jazeera that they will challenge the arrest in court and will apply for bail. He also said he believes the court will support them.
Earlier Arrests
Earlier on July 3, top thirteen leaders of JuD were booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 for terror financing and money laundering.
JuD is already facing cases in five cities of Punjab. Counter-Terrorism Department has declared that JuD was financing terrorism from funds received from non-profit organizations and trusts such as Al-Anfaal Trust, Dawatul Irshad Trust, Muaz Bin Jabal Trust, etc.
