Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided to hold a sit-in (Dharna) against heavy electricity bills and rising inflation across the country.
According to the details, the sit-in planned by Jamaat-e-Islami will be part of protests against inflated electricity bills.
A meeting of the party was headed by secretary general Ameerul Azeem and the final schedule for the protests was decided.
JI Chief Sirajul Haq has summoned the senior leadership tomorrow to hold a press conference and announce the schedule of protests and sit-in against soaring inflation.
It is pertinent to mention that caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq said that the interim Government will announce a relief plan for heavy electricity bills.
However, the Government failed to get the approval of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which declined any sort of relief for the poor segment of society.
Meanwhile, there have been several protests against heavy electricity bills and rising inflation with people demanding that the Government should put an end to the provision of free electricity to notables and officials.
These protests have been triggered after people started receiving electricity bills higher than their monthly salaries.
