Social media has trending with #JusticeforFatima, as netizens demand justice for a 10-year-old housemaid, identified as Fatima Fariro, who allegedly tortured to death by her employer, a local peer (spiritual leader) named Asad Shah Jilani, in Ranipur Town near Sindh’s Khairpur City.
According to the details, the incident was made public after a video of the 10-year-old housemaid, identified as Fatima Fariro, went viral on social media, showing clear signs of torture on the minor girl’s body.
The victim was the daughter of Nadeem Ali, a resident of Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze district. At first, Fatima’s parents declared it a ‘natural death’ despite clear torture marks on the young girl’s body as seen in the viral video.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur Mir Ruhail Khoso said in a statement that prime suspect, Pir Asad Shah Jilani, has been arrested over his alleged involvement in the minor girl’s murder.
However, the prime suspect claims that Fatima Fariro was suffering from gastroenteritis, which is the reason behind her death, and she was being provided proper medical treatment. He added that no violence was inflicted upon the girl and she lived in the house like a ‘family member.’
The girl’s illness was reportedly confirmed by Dr Abdul Fatah Memon, a doctor who treated her at a private hospital. However, SSP Khairpur said that legal action will be taken after completing investigation.
He added that police will approach a local court for exhumation and post-mortem of the minor girl and DIG Sukkur Javed Jiskani has also ordered to suspend SHO Ranipur on his negligence in fulfilling the exhumation orders.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother, who denied torture allegations, later changed her statement while speaking to media and said that her daughter Fatima was tortured to death, adding that her two other daughters are still in custody of Pir Asad Shah Jilani.
DIG Sukkur Javed Jiskani has also constituted a three-member committee, which is comprised of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gumbat, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CTD, to probe the case.
The incident has been trending on social media with #JusticeforFatima as netizens demand Justice for Fatima Fariro, the 10-year-old housemaid tortured to death in Ranipur Town of Sindh’s Khairpur district.
