The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is likely to increase the power tariff for K-Electric consumers on account of three different Fuel Charge Adjustment (FCA).
According to the details, K-Electric consumers might see a hike of Rs. 10.32 per unit in the power tariff for three adjustments (October to December 2022, July to September 2022, and April to June 2023).
The final decision will be taken after the power regulator hears the government’s plea on September 11.
It is pertinent to mention that people are already receiving heavy electricity bills amid extremely high inflation, which has made it impossible to fulfil basic necessities. As a result, several people have been protesting against the high tariffs in different parts of the country.
Jamaat-e-Islami also decided to stage a protest and sit-in at all governor houses against the inflated electricity bills.
