Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has announced a ban on drone cameras within the jurisdiction of the Karachi division for seven days from April 22 to April 28, 2024, under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPr).
According to the notification, the citizens of Karachi have been barred from flying drone cameras in the metropolis for the next seven days amidst security concerns.
The notification stated that the Additional Inspector General of Police had requested the ban stating, “There are serious threats to vital installations by the Anti-State Elements / Hostile agencies in the wake of recent attacks on foreigners, therefore, he requests for imposition of ban on use of drones on entire limits of Karachi Metropolis for a period of 7 days.”

It is pertinent to mention that the local administration announced a public holiday today (April 23) in light of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Pakistan. Furthermore, the Karachi Police had put up several road blocks for security with alternate routes and diversions of commuters to avoid any inconvenience.
