A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) in Karachi has been caught selling stolen motorcycles by ARY News program “Sar-e-Aam,” led by anchorperson Iqrar ul Hassan.
The operation took place at the AVLC office, where DSP Nijabat Hussain was found selling motorcycles recovered after theft. It was discovered that he sold these motorcycles without informing the original owners about their recovery. A lot of citizens had complained about DSP Hussain’s involvement in such illegal activities.
During the sting operation, the Sar-e-Aam team bought two stolen motorcycles from DSP Hussain for Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 and recorded all conversations related to the deals. Iqrarul Hassan noted that the operation was conducted with a limited budget, which only allowed the purchase of motorcycles. He also mentioned that the DSP is involved in selling stolen cars.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) AVLC, Arif Aslam Rao, took immediate notice of the ARY News report and removed DSP Nijabat Hussain from his post. A notification for his removal has been issued, and an investigation has been started against him.
