The Karachi Traffic Police on Monday has sought an increase in the fines over traffic violations following the increase of fine money for wrong parking in Lahore.
According to DIG Traffic Karachi, Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, the traffic police is already working on strict compliance with rules and regulations to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the metropolis.
He added that fine money for traffic violation was low compared to other parts of the country and requested the Sindh Government for an increment in the traffic fines for Karachi.
DIG Cheema believes that increase in traffic fines will result in a sharp decrease in traffic violations in Karachi.
It is pertinent to mention that Lahore City Traffic Police (CTP) has hiked wrong parking fine by by Rs. 1800 and citizens would have to pay Rs. 2000 for the violation instead of earlier Rs. 200.
