Various parts of Karachi suffered a power outage after K Electric (KE) 220 kV high tension line was affected as a result of tripping in NTDC’s NKI Baldia 1 and Baldia 2 circuit supplying to Karachi.
This caused power outage in more than half of Karachi, which left people without electricity amid the sweltering heat.
Some of the areas with no electricity in Karachi included, DHA, Malir, Lyari, North Karachi, Gulistane-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad and several others.
According to details, there were over 45 grid stations which were affected due to the tripping of transmission lines causing a massive power outage in Karachi.
However, as per the latest update provided by KE, the restoration is underway and power supply to many areas has been restored already.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy has stated that NKI Baldia 1 and Baldia 2 transmission lines supplying power to Karachi have been restored while load is being increased gradually.
