The Karachi Traffic Police has issued a detailed Traffic Plan for the three-day International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2022 being held from 15, 16, 17, and 18 November 2022 (Tuesday to Friday) at the Expo Centre Karachi.
According to the details, the Karachi Traffic Police has announced a Diversion Plan to help commuters in their daily travel and save them from inconvenience as several roads in the metropolis will remain blocked, especially during exhibition hours.
Karachi Traffic Plan (November 15 – 18)
According to the Karachi Traffic Plan, all kinds of heavy and commercial from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards Sir Shah Suleman Road will be directed towards Karsaz and Drigh Road to make their way towards Rashid Minhas Road and NIPA. Meanwhile, the public coming from the airport will use Drigh Road Flyover and turn to Rashid Minhas Road and NIPA.
Furthermore, no heavy and commercial vehicles will be allowed to use Rashid Minhas Road to go towards the National Stadium during Dalmia Road and will be diverted towards Shahrah-e-Faisal, Gulshan Chowrangi, and Sohrab Goth.
No vehicles will be allowed to go from NIPA to PPP Chowrangi on University Road and these vehicles will be allowed to travel from NIPA to Gulshan Chowrangi to Sohrab Goth or Safoora, or from Rashid Minhas Road to Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Moreover, heavy and commercial traffic will not be allowed to enter from PPP Chowrangi to NIPA and instead vehicles will be Shahrah-e-Quaideen to reach Mazar-e-Quaid or Khudadad Flyover towards Saddar Dawakhana and Gurumandir. Furthermore, heavy and commercial vehicles around University Road will not be allowed towards Stadium Road and will be diverted from PPP Chowrangi to Shahrah-e-Quaideen.
Commuters will not be allowed to travel from Liaquatabad No 10 towards Sir Shah Suleman Road and instead will be diverted to Karimabad and the right side of Dak Khana and Teen Hatti.
According to the Karachi Traffic Plan, University Road and surrounding streets will remain open for traffic, however, the traffic going from Liaquatabad, Gharibabad and Hassan Square to Shahrah-e-Faisal will use University Road and then take a U-Turn at the Baitul Mukarram Mosque to turn left from the Jaffri Optics to go towards the back side of the stadium, Karsaz or Millennium Mall.
Both tracks of Sir Shah Suleman Road will remain closed during the IDEAS 2022 opening hours from 7 am to 6 am with only sticker bearing vehicles allowed to enter from Karsaz Road to the Expo Centre and those without stickers will be diverted towards New Town or Dalmia.
Exhibition Parking
Only sticker bearing vehicles are allowed to park at the Expo Centre, National Coaching Centre and National Stadium. Meanwhile, the vehicles without stickers will not be allowed to park on Sir Shah Suleman Road, Stadium Road to Hassan Square and University Road.
Traffic Plan For Residents
The residents of Sir Shah Suleman Road are advised to use Sehba Akhtar Road, University Road and to towards NIPA. Meanwhile, those going to Aga Khan Hospital are advised to go from its rear side, while the Civic Centre should be approached from its rear side.
