KARACHI WEATHER UPDATE: The metropolis received the first spell of monsoon 2021 rain early Monday which resulted in power breakdown in most parts of Karachi for several hours.
The Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain may continue throughout the day while heavy showers are expected at night in Karachi.
The first spell of monsoon rain in Karachi caused power breakdown throughout the metropolis, including Malir, Landhi, II Chundrigar Road and surrounding areas, Steel Town, Yaseenabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Numaish, Old City Area, Gadap, University Road and Guljistan-e-Johar.
The weather in Karachi improved as the city received its first spell of monsoon 2021 rain but many suffered inconvenience while commuting due to flooded streets in many areas of the city.
The Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah blamed the Meteorological Department for not predicting today’s rain in the metropolis.
He ordered the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, DMCs and KMC to ensure timely drainage of rainwater from the low-lying areas and clear up choking points throughout the city on priority basis.
Meanwhile, K-Electric (KE) said t hat power restoration in the city was underway following today’s rain in Karachi.

As of now, only 271 feeders out of 1900 are affected.
KE on ground teams are active for restoration of localized outages.
