Karachi’s Peoples Bus Service to Get Mobile App on November 30

The Sindh Transport & Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Memon has announced that a mobile app for Karachi’s Peoples Bus Service will be launched on November 30 that will help people track buses on different routes and allow passengers to make payments online.

The announcement was made during a meeting about the Peoples Bus Service that was chaired by the Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Memon and attended by National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation Project Director Sohaib Shafiq and Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) Managing Director Capt. (retd) Altaf Hussain Sario.

The meeting discussed the operations of the Peoples Bus Service, its new routes, the ITS, establishment of a command & control room and the launch of the mobile app that will passengers using the Peoples Bus Service to track buses in real time and make online payments.

Meanwhile, CCTV cameras, screens, live tracking and monitoring facilities will also be activated with the installation of the ITS in the buses alongside the establishment of the command control room at the office of the SMTA in order to provide maximum facilities to the people.

The mobile app for the Peoples Bus Service will have three main features, including the ability to provide general information like the routes being used by the People Bus Service, the timings and their fares in order to allow passengers to plan their travel according to the details provided.

The second feature will help track the buses, which will allow the commuter to know where the next bus is and when it is expected to reach the a designated station or stop. Furthermore, the passenger will also be provided information about the last bus to reach the stop.

Moreover, the third feature will help the people pay for the Peoples Bus Service through the mobile app, including payment through QR code or they will be able to buy a card and activate it through the mobile app as well. However, the minister pointed out that the online payment feature will be activated in December, while other two features will start functioning by November.
