Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched the ‘Kisan Portal’ on Friday under the Pakistan Citizen Portal to improve the life of farmers and help resolve their grievances on priority. He said that helping farmers will help all of Pakistan.
In his inaugural address, Prime Minister Imran said the government is working towards the development of agriculture sector and the Kisan Portal will play an important role to address the problems being faced by farmers. He added the government is also focusing on the development of new seeds to increase the yield of crops.
The premier also explained that farmers would be able to get direct subsidies, and directly receive money for subsidized soil and pesticides as well as other emergency cases through the use of the Kisan Card, which has been launched by the government to help the country’s farmers.
Imran Khan said that Pakistan was blessed with natural resources and if these were properly utilized through new technology, it could lead towards a boom in the agriculture sector. The Kisan Portal will help farmers raise their voice and have their problems resolved in a timely manner.
Under the Kisan Portal, there are 123 dashboards set up in relevant departments at the federal and provincial levels. Earlier, problems of these farmers were not reaching the concerned authorities as there was no dedicated category for them in the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
The Prime Minister said that farmers need to adopt new technology in order to increase crop yields and the government will help them through this process. He added that steps are being taken to ensure that farmers receive due prices for their crops as well.
Imran Khan added there was a need to store water and dams will be constructed which will help store water for agriculture purposes.
