The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has taken a significant step to ease the financial burden on citizens during the upcoming religious occasion of Eid by reducing the fees for sacrificial animals entering the cattle market.
This decision was made during a KMC general council meeting chaired by Mayor Murtaza Wahab, with Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Municipal Commissioner SM Afzal Zaidi in attendance.
In a move aimed at facilitating the community during this religiously significant time, the council has resolved to lower the fee for sacrificial animals such as cows, bulls, and camels to Rs 600 per animal, down from the previous Rs 1,000. Similarly, the fee for goats and sheep has been reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 300 per animal, making it more affordable for individuals participating in the Eid rituals.
Furthermore, the council has also approved the collection of parking fees from valet services operating outside marriage halls, ensuring a streamlined approach to managing parking facilities during events.
The KMC’s initiatives not only reflect a spirit of community support but also demonstrate a commitment to enhancing convenience and accessibility for citizens during important occasions like Eidul Azha, when the sacrificing of animals holds great religious significance.
