Lahore CCPO Umar Sheikh cant seem to stay out of the spotlight as the officer has landed in yet another controversy involving an altercation with CIA SP Asim Iftikhar Kamboh.
CIA SP Asim Iftikhar Kamboh was asked to join a meeting called by Lahore CCPO at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority to discuss the plans regarding the opposition’s rally in Gujranwala.
However, CIA SP was a little late to show up at the meeting and CCPO Umar Sheikh that he wasn’t feeling well following which a heated argument erupted between both officers.
We already know that the CCPO is short tempered and this time he ordered Civil Lines SP to arrest the CIA SP to which the CIA SP responded that he was not a constable.
CCPO Umar Sheikh then ordered the withdrawal of all perks from CIA SP Asim Iftikhar Kamboh and registration of a First Information Report (FIA) against him.
Angered after being insulted and humiliated, the CIA SP told Lahore CCPO that he would punch him after which DIG Operations and DIG Investigations stepped in to calm down both the officers.
The CIA SP also discussed the matter with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani who expressed displeasure over working with the CCPO but requested SP to continue with his duties.
The Lahore CCPO is no stranger to controversies landing himself in the public eye almost every other day. He received a lot of backlash after blaming the Lahore motorway rape victim for the incident multiple times.
Later, CCPO Umar Sheikh got into an altercation with a foreign-education police officer who ended up resigning after being humiliated in front of collogues at meeting.
