The Lahore police has been facing a lot of criticism since yesterday after a video went viral on social media showing officers misbehaving with two young siblings in the city’s Ghalib Market when they failed to produce their national identity cards (CNIC).
In the video, two siblings can be seen doing sit-ups while holding their ears in front of a police mobile in the limits of Ghalib Market police station in Lahore.

According to the details, the siblings were stopped by police at a check post near Ghalib Market police station in Lahore and asked to produce their CNICs.
However, since they were returning from work and did not have the CNICs on hand, the Lahore police officials asked the two young siblings to do sit-ups as punishment.
The brother told local media that after the punishment, they were taken to the Ghalib Market police station where police subjected them to torture.
The girl stated that police officer named Jamshed ordered her to remove her sweater and physically searched her without a female cop present.
The entire matter stirred up a lot of criticism from people on social media who started bashing police for such behavior.

Lahore police deny allegations
On the other hand, the Lahore police have denied allegations, saying that the video showing the two young siblings being humiliated is fake and a conspiracy to defame the police.
The Ghalib Market police station house officer (SHO) told Geo News that none of his subordinates were involved in the incident.
The spokesperson for the Model Town Police Station in Lahore stated that there was a story behind the incident.
“Last month, the district administration had sealed a private hotel for carrying out ‘immoral activities’ within its premises,” the spokesperson said.
He added that the hotel owner, Wasim Bhatti, reopened and resumed immoral activities at the hotel despite warnings from police.
“The accused has a [criminal] record and he is involved in several cases,” the spokesperson said. He added that the Ghalib Market Police Station had registered a case against the accused under various provisions.
“A conspiracy has been hatched to defame the police by making a video in front of an empty police vehicle in a parking lot,” the spokesperson said.
Even the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations also said that the matter was investigated and the entire incident was orchestrated.
“The entire incident has been orchestrated. Police did not check any boy or girl and did not make them do sit-ups,” he said.
