Punjab is planning to construct a signal-free corridor form Karim Market to Motorway (M-2) and construction of a flyover and underpass as Garhi Shahu Chowk to resolve congestion in these high traffic areas of the city.
The decisions were taken during its 37th meeting of the Punjab Development Working Party (PDWP), where a green light was given to three development schemes within the Urban Development and Auqaf sector, with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 7,561.473 million.
Chairing the session was Chairman of the Planning and Development (P&D) Board, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, alongside Secretary of P&D Board, Muzaffar Khan Sial.
The approved development schemes are as follows:
- Construction of a Signal-Free Corridor from Karim Market to Motorway (M-2) Phase-I, Lahore, with a budget of Rs. 2,975.034 million.
- Approval for the construction of a Flyover and underpass at Garhi Shahu Chowk, Lahore, aimed at resolving traffic congestion issues, with a sanctioned budget of Rs. 3,951.469 million.
- Conservation and up-gradation of Shrines Mosques of Uch Sharif and Development of Pilgrim Trail, approved at the cost of Rs. 635 million.
The meeting witnessed the participation of all Members of the P&D Board, representatives from relevant departments, and other senior officials from the respective provincial departments.
