The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more heavy rains and thunderstorms in Lahore and other cities in Punjab on Friday and over the weekend. According to the details, Intermittent rain-windstorm/thundershower (with heavy to very heavyfalls) is expected in several cities across the province.
It is pertinent to mention that Lahore experienced over 300 mm of rainfall, which broke the city’s 44-year record as roads turned into rivers. The unprecedented downpour led to tragic incidents, including the death of a young girl and injuries to five others in two roof collapse incidents.

A rain emergency was declared in the city, with schools and offices closed as it was impossible to commute due to flooded roads. Meanwhile, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, ordered concerned departments to immediately drain flooded areas.

Furthermore, the rain caused heavy damage and several casualties in Lahore. According to the reports, two children and an adult lost their lives, while several houses and cars sustained damage from flooding, including roof collapses.
