A devastating fire broke out, which is suspected to have been caused by a laptop battery explosion, in a house in Sharifpura, Faisalabad, late Wednesday night, leading to the deaths of two children and leaving seven other family members with severe burns.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the tragic incident happened while a family member was using a laptop that was plugged in for charging. The battery is believed to have overheated from prolonged use, causing it to explode and ignite the room. The fire grew more intense because an air conditioner was running in the same room.
The blaze severely burned nine family members, including five children. Rescue 1122 teams quickly arrived at the scene, managing to put out the fire and evacuate the injured.
The nine victims were identified as Talha (9), Dua Fatima (6), Rehan Raza (8), Eiman Fatima (4), Ibrahim Ahmad (3), Farhat Aslam (45), Makki Raza (24), Rashida (40), and Nargis Ahmad (32). They were all taken to the burns unit at Allied Hospital for urgent medical care.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of the hospital staff, young Talha and Dua Fatima did not survive their injuries. The other seven family members remain in critical condition.
