The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a significant increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Pakistan, effective from January 1, 2024.
As outlined in their notification, the regulatory authority established the price of locally sourced LPG at Rs. 256.42 per kg, marking an increase of Rs1.57 from the previous month’s Rs. 254.86.
Similarly, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder, weighing 11.8kg, has risen to Rs. 3,025.87 for the current month compared to Rs. 3,007.62 in the prior month, reflecting a hike of Rs. 18.52.
In a statement, OGRA clarified that the gas producer price is tied to Saudi Aramco-CP and the US Dollar exchange rate. In comparison to the previous month, Saudi Aramco-CP has risen by 1.6 percent. Despite a 0.86 percent decrease in the average Dollar exchange rate, the gas consumer price has increased by Rs. 18.52 for an 11.8 kg cylinder (0.61 percent), the statement added.
