The Government of Punjab will impose a complete lockdown in some areas of Lahore after several coroanvirus cases have emerged according to the Health Minister Yasmin Rashid on Monday.
These areas of Lahore have reported over 300 cases each hence are being put under lockdown for two weeks starting 12am tonight after which results will be observed again at the end of the lockdown period.

According to the Health Minister the following areas in Lahore are being put under lockdown:
- Shahdra
- Shad Bagh
- Mozang
- Harbanspura
- Lahore Cantt.
- Nishtar Ground
- Allama Iqbal Town
- Walled City
- Several Areas in Gulberg
However, grocery stores, tandoors, dairy shops, fruit and vegetable shops will be allowed to operate in these areas along with factories making any personal protective equipment (PPEs).
The Health Minister also urged people to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and said that the spread of the virus could be curbed by 50% just by people wearing masks.
Punjab is the first province to report over 1,000 fatalities and while the number of coronavirus cases have topped 54,000 and are rising rapidly.
