RAWALPINDI: Six major generals of Pakistan Army have been promoted to lieutenant general rank including the former DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the Pakistan army’s media wing, the following major generals have been promoted to rank of lieutenant general:
- Major General Akhtar Nawaz
- Major General Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat
- Major General Asif Ghafoor
- Major General Salman Fayyaz Ghani
- Major General Sarfraz Ali
- Major General Muhammad Ali
Furthermore, the DG ISPR stated that several officers were given new appointments which are as follows:

Lt-Gen Asif Ghafoor has served as the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) from December 2016 to January 2020 at which point he was replaced by Maj General Babar Iftikhar.
