The caretaker Government has announced that markets and malls will close at sunset in order to conserve energy.
According to the details, the new market timings will become applicable from October 1, 2023, to February 15, 2024.
The administration of the four provinces will be responsible for implementing the decision, while a draft is being prepared for permanent legislation.
Meanwhile, the caretaker Government is consulting with all stakeholders, including the chambers federation and business communities regarding early closure of markets.
It is pertinent to mention that a similar announcement was made by the previous Shehbaz Sharif-led Government regarding closure of markets at 8.00 pm as part of the ‘energy conservation plan.’
However, the plan was never implemented will force but the caretaker Government seems adamant to bring the plan into effect in order to solve the country’s energy crisis.
