Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor has passed away in a car accident in Islamabad, the capital police confirmed on Twitter.
“Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Maulana Abdul Shakoor died in a road accident.” said the Islamabad Police. “Maulana Abdul Shakoor was heading towards Secretariat Chowk from Marriot Hotel.” they added.
According to reports, the vehicle that hit the minister’s car was a Hilux Revo.
The capital police has stated that the Federal Minister was shifted to the Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad but he could not survive and succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police has arrested the five men riding in the other vehicle (Hilux Revo).
Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, has directed the Islamabad Police to ensure that a complete investigation is conducted into the incident.
