In a tragic incident, a flood-affected minor girl was gang-raped in Clifton area of Karachi and one of the alleged suspects involved in the gruesome crime has been taken into custody by police and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 34/376 and 364A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the basis of the victim’s statement.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), two unidentified suspects abducted the nine-year-old girl from a flood-relief camp set up within the jurisdiction of Boat Basin Police Station in Clifton area of Karachi by forcing her into their car and subjected her to gang-rape.
Later, the suspects dropped left the minor girl in the same area from where they had abducted her after a few hours and she was rushed to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where doctors confirmed that the nine-year-old had been sexually assaulted and severely tortured.
In her initial statement to the police, the minor girl said that she was assaulted by two unknown person and a case has been registered under Sections 34/376 and 364A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the basis of the victim’s statement.
It is pertinent to mention that the minor girl belongs to Shikarpur and had moved to Karachi along with her family during the severe flooding and was residing at a flood-relief camp near Clifton.
Following the horrific incident, Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, took serious notice of the matter and directed authorities to arrest the culprits immediately and take care of the girl’s family. “This is totally unacceptable and cannot be forgiven, therefore, I want the culprits behind the bars immediately,” he told Additional Inspector-General Karachi Javed Odho.
