Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that mobile internet services aka mobile data will remain suspended across Pakistan for an indefinite period amid reports of protests following Imran Khan’s arrest.
The telecom regulator confirmed that the decision to block mobile internet services in Pakistan was taken on the directives of the Ministry of Interior, which gave the order last night in light of protests and riots breaking out across major cities.
Furthermore, major social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, have also been locked and many users in Pakistan are unable to access these platforms since yesterday. However, these services are still available through use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
According to the details, mobile internet services are mainly suspended in major cities of Pakistan, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Karachi, where users have reported disruptions on all leading mobile networks.
