The Government of Balochistan has suspended mobile phone services and wireless internet devices across the provincial capital of Quetta ahead of Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram) in order to maintain security during processions.
The decision to shut down mobile phone services was taken amid recent hike in terrorist attacks on security forces in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
A notification has been issued by the Balochistan Government, which stated that mobile phone and internet services will remain suspended in Quetta till Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram).
The decision was taken on the request of CPO Balochistan, who urged provincial authorities to block all wireless mobile internet services.
According to the details, the mobile phone services will remain suspended from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Muharram 9 and 10 with restoration taking place after the culmination of processions.
Meanwhile, the police have blocked certain roads along the routes of processions and the Government has also banned pillion riding till Ashura.
