Citizens of Karachi are facing a lot of inconvenience as internet and mobile phone services remain suspended in several parts of the port city as the government makes necessary security arrangements on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which is falling on 9 October 2022 (12th Rabi-ul-Awal).
According to a spokesperson of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile phone services will remain suspended in Karachi on account of 11th and 12th Rabi-ul-Awal (8 and 9 October 2022) as per government’s to maintain law and order situation in the metropolis.
Some of the areas where mobile services remains down in Karachi include Gulistan-e-Johar, Defence, Saddar, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Al-Noor Morr, Golimar Chowrangi No 1, Lasbela Bridge, Teen Hatti, 4K Chowrangi, Entire District Malir, East Zone, Geo Mobile Market, U.P Morr, Disco Morr, Liaquatabad Post Office, Madina Colony,
It is pertinent to mention that the provincial government has announced a public holiday on 9 October 2022 on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awal). In the notification, the government said that all offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local council under its administrative control shall remain closed on Sunday.
However, the order does not apply to essential services and COVID-19 emergency.
On September 26, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) announced that Rabi-ul-Awal 1444 A.H. moon was not sighted in Pakistan and thus, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) would fall on October 9 (Sunday).
