ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has announced the suspension of the walk-in facility for apostille and general attestation services in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Karachi and Lahore.
The change aims to streamline the attestation process through designated courier services.
In a recent statement, the Foreign Office emphasized, “To facilitate the public for Apostille and General Attestation, the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Karachi and Lahore are providing document attestation services through courier companies.”
Starting July 18, 2024, the public must visit designated courier collection points for all apostille and general attestations. This new policy eliminates the need for walk-in visits to the ministry offices.
The Foreign Office shared the announcement via Twitter, encouraging the public to adapt to the new system for convenience and efficiency.
Transition to Courier Services
Under the new policy, the ministry has authorized courier companies to accept all documents except the Power of Attorney. Applicants must visit designated centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi for document verification.
Revised Fee Structure for Attestation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also updated the fee structure for document attestation. The new fees are as follows:
- Personal and educational documents: Rs3,000 per document
- Legal documents: Rs4,500 per document
- Commercial documents: Rs12,000 per document
These changes aim to make the attestation process more efficient and accessible to the public. The ministry advises the public to follow the new procedures and use the designated courier services for their attestation needs.
