KARACHI: The Government of Sindh’s School Education & Literacy Department has issued a notification allowing district authorities to announce local holidays in schools in response to the ongoing heavy monsoon rains and flooding across various districts in Sindh.
The notification, addressed to all Deputy Commissioners in the province, highlights the severe weather conditions caused by the current monsoon season. The letter states that the torrential rains are expected to continue for several more days, posing a risk to the safety of students and school staff.
In view of the situation, the School Education & Literacy Department has granted the Deputy Commissioners the authority to declare local holidays in their respective districts whenever deemed necessary. This decision is to be made in consultation with the department to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
The notification emphasizes the need for district authorities to monitor the situation closely and make timely decisions to avoid any potential harm due to the adverse weather conditions.
