Two Federal Ministers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P), Aminul Haque and Farogh Naseem, have tendered their resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan following the party’s decision to side with the Opposition on the matter of no-confidence vote.
Farogh Naseem, who served as the Minister of Law and Justice, and Aminul Haque, who served as the Minister for Information Technology, have resigned from their posts and a notification to accept their resignations will be issued with the approval of the Prime Minister.
It is pertinent to mention that MQM-P decided to desert the incumbent PTI Government and side with the Opposition to support the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. This development has dealt a heavy blow to the PTI Government as it has lost the majority in the Lower House.
Since the motion was filed on March 8, both the Government and the Opposition have been struggling to achieve the numbers ahead of the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, the PTI Government now has only 164 lawmakers on its side compared to the 177 members in the National Assembly (NA) siding with the Opposition.
